Best Home School Field Trips for children of all ages!

  1. Join the ASTC Science Museum Membership.  This membership allows you to visit Science Museums across the country using the reciprocal membership.  Just make sure the museum you are visiting is not within 90 miles of your residence or your “home museum”. 

My children can spend all day at Science Museums.  Most have hands on exhibits, changing exhibits, aquariums, climbing structures, rides, planetariums, etc. 

2. Fire Stations offer unique tours of their fire stations and trucks.  It is a WONDERFUL way for children to learn about fire prevention, and the Heros that live and work in our neighborhood.  It is am amazing tour that your children will never forget.  Contact your local firehouse to find out if they offer tours for children. 

3. If you are blessed enough to have Beaches in your proximity it is another great way to get out and explore and hands on learning.  From sand to shells, to water, to living things, the Beach is always an exciting way to learn while having fun!

4. Open Gym Play at local children’s gymnastics facilities.  For a flat rate most will allow you come in and use trampoline and other equipment for use during the Open Gym Hours. 

5.There is so much to see and do in Parks and Playgrounds.   Parks and Playgrounds give an unlimited space to exercise, play, socialize and learn.  There are so many different parks and each offers a different learning environment.    Best part is that the Playgrounds are not overcrowded when you hit them mid-day on a “school day”, you sometimes get the playground to yourself. 

7. Cruises offer an all inclusive way to sit back, relax, and learn.  You get to see different islands and learn about their cultures.  Visit beaches or take a hike.  Bottom glass boats allow you to view sea life in a unique way.  You can also swim with stingrays or dolphins for an extra adventure.  There are so many places to go, from Alaska, to Europe or a Caribbean island.  Better yet, sail on a Homeschool Cruise with the Cruise Family Cruise Agency to sail with other Homeschool Families and sit in with on a Homeschool workshop while out at sea.

8. Sports & Dance Classes, offer a wonderful way to exercise and learn or perfect a new skill.  You can take a Private Class or get involved in a Group Class with other Homeschool Families.  You can take a one time drop in class or sign up for a series of lessons.  In Florida, Homeschool Students can also participate in leagues and teams at their local schools, or your child can qualify for scholarships while spending their leisurely time learning a new sport.  Florida Tennis & Pickleball Lessons and ABC’s Of Sports cater to Homeschool Families to assist them in their sports journey!

9. Roller Skating and Bowling Alleys offer special rates for Homeschoolers to enjoy the facilities without the crowds.  You can start a join a Homeschool Bowling League, or enroll in a Skating Lesson and have the whole rink to practice without the pushing and crowds!
